Puerto Vallarta Golf Courses
The Marina Vallarta Club de Golf is located in the heart of Marina Vallarta walking distance to many hotels and restaurants. Vista Vallarta hosts two unique 18 hole courses, one designed by Jack Nicklaus the other designed by Tom Weiskopf. The Flamingos Club de Golf is located 15 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta in a beautiful wetlands environment. Robert von Hagge designed the new resort course in Nuevo Vallarta, Paradise Village Country Club course. The Four Seasons Resort at Punta Mita designed by Jack Nicklaus has a unique place in golf with a surprise green.
Four Seasons Golf Course at Punta Mita, an unparalleled private championship course, is distinguished by breathtaking ocean views and 200 pristine acres of lush, rolling hills and flowering landscapes. The 7,104-yard, par-72 course features eight ocean-side holes and an optional "19th" par-3 hole with a natural island green, making it the first of its kind in Mexico.
This semi- private course, intended for hotel guests of the Four Seasons Resort and golf club members, is not played as heavily as most public courses. Visitors are welcome, but an additional fee will be required.
Flamingos Golf Club
The Flamingos Golf Club is located within the Flamingos development next to Nuevo Vallarta. It offers 18 holes designed by Percy J. Clifford and the most economical rates for golfers. The club provides free transportation from in front of the Sheraton Hotel at 7:30 and 10:30am.
El Tigre Club de Golf
El Tigre Golf Course is part of Paradise Village resort in Nuevo Vallarta. It offers 18 holes and some of the largest beach bunkers you can find. This course has been lightheartedly described as “one of the most challenging in Mexico,” yet the overall the course is considered forgiving by even novice golfers. “Creating the most exciting championship 18 hole golf course in Mexico” was the challenge given to the team of Von Hagge, Smelek and Baril. The result, a 7,239 yard masterpiece.
Marina Vallarta Club de Golf
The Marina Vallarta Club de Golf, designed by Joe Fingers, is owned and operated by Club Corp and is situated right in the middle of the Marina Vallarta development, with a couple of holes next to the ocean. Marina Vallarta is conveniently located in a resort area of Puerto Vallarta, and is across the street from the Casamagna Marriott Resort.
Marina Vallarta golf course green fees are less expensive than the other resort golf courses, but is not as good quality.
Vista Vallarta Club de Golf
Vista Vallarta Club de Golf, which opened in 2000, is also owned and operated by Club Corp. It consists of two 18-hole courses, one designed by Jack Nicklaus and the other by Tom Weiskopf, and is located a short distance from downtown. There are no accomodations available at these golf courses, but taxis and shuttles are available from most resorts and hotels in Puerto Vallarta.
Isla Navidad Golf Course
Isla Navidad Golf Course, Marina and Resort is three hours away and offers 27 holes within this world-class residential development - 9-hole Ocean Course, 9-hole Mountain Course and the 9-hole Lagoon Course. You can drive down for the day, but it is much better to stay a night or two at the development's Grand Bay hotel.
Tamarindo, a 2,040-acre ecological reserve just a little north of Barra de Navidad. The course was built to cater to the many valleys and lush jungle that cover this private peninsula. The jungle is so thick in some parts that it creates a natural canopy, offering cover from the afternoon sun and offers a stunning contrast to the crashing ocean. The Tamarindo hotel is the place to stay if you wish to overnight it, offering 26 individual casitas in a small cove surrounded by lush jungle.
