Puerto Vallarta NightLife
If you are planning a vacation to Puerto Vallarta then plan on going to the malecon (or boardwalk), which is the main strip in downtown. Here you will find some of the best places for drinks, food and dancing in Mexico. The malecon area is fairly safe at night and the only thing a tourist really needs to watch out for are the timeshare salesmen who lure you into their sales pitch with the offer of free tequila, free golf, free what-ever-you-want. These guys will really kill a lot of your time, and your mood, so be polite and kindly thank them for your free shot, or shots, of tequila and move on.
The restaurants, bars and discos in downtown Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta can be expensive, especially the trendier places. Hilo, one of the big nightclubs in Puerto Vallarta, looks great but it is by far one of the most expensive places to have a drink. Nine shots of tequila ran up to $100US - more than $10US a shot - who are they kidding? Of course they didn't let on the price until the bill was brought to the table. Lesson learned - always ask the price first, even for a simple shot of tequila.
